Shop The Street 2ND AVE Sidewalk Sale
Today kicks off the 43rd annual 2ND AVE Sidewalk Sale. Downtown was abuzz with shoppers enjoying the sales, and sunshine. I had the opportunity to visit participating Downtown Saskatoon retailers and restaurants and was in awe of the beautiful pieces (at incredible prices) and drool-worthy eats. There was no shortage of dining options, so I suggest you arrive hungry. My tried and true favourites were all there - GUD Eats, YAY! Thai, and Homestead Ice Cream, so my already poor decision making skills were totally challenged.
The streets were lined with an endless selection of current, quality clothing, footwear and accessories for the entire family. Naturally I b-lined to my favourites - Era Style Loft, Swank Shoe Lounge and Lululemon had the most swoon-worthy pieces at unbelievable prices. I was in heaven.
DTNYXE has ensured that there’s something for everyone to do this weekend. From free drop-in fitness classes scheduled throughout the day (right next to LuluLemon) to bouncy castles, Happy Hour specials, a live DJ and more.
If you have a infant or toddler in your life, you MUST visit Millie’s Little Closet. The handmade pieces are beyond adorable and your mini will be festival goals from head to toe. The clothing is made of the most beautiful fabric textures and prints and the accessories make the perfect gift - leather fringe purses, flower sunnies and headscarves caught my eye walking by. You can find Millie’s Little Closet in front of Joyne Marketplace.
What’s better than a sale? A sale with friends. Holly and I strolled 2ND AVE and she quickly fell for Frye boots at Manhattan Casuals, while ever stylish Addi held down the Anthony’s booth. They’re featuring big sales on an amazing selection of men’s and women’s casual and career clothing. Get there fast, it won’t last long!
Undergrind had an extensive selection of decks, clothing and sneakers. The most coveted gear all on sale!
I’m a sucker for LuluLemon on the best of days, line the downtown streets with rows upon rows of Lulu on sale? Just take all my money. From leggings and sports bras to bathing suits (yep, they’re cute) and accessories, there’s something for every body.
Ever since YAY! Thai has opened on 2ND AVE, I haven’t been able to make a trip downtown without popping in. Their vegan Thai menu leaves me dreaming of the Panang Curry daily (insert drool emoji), so I stopped in for a refreshing Thai Iced Tea Lemonade. I LOVED seeing the lineup of people waiting to enjoy their delicious menu.
Two of my favourites - ice cream & art :)
Homestead is our family favourite, so I couldn’t pass up something sweet after seeing their truck parked next to Tonic. And how great is this print? I plan to frame and hang it in our office at home. Local artist, Candace Chickowski, aka Chickski Press, makes the most amazing postcards and prints. I picked mine up at Joyne Marketplace and was welcomed by the cutest baby in history. I swear, I could have spent the day cooing over him. Go check the art and local handmade goods out, Joyne Marketplace is filled with sweet gems.
I adore GUD and was thrilled to see the truck parked next to Swank. You can usually find them behind, equally amazing, Thrive Juice in the summer, but DTNYXE is fortunate to have Chris and his crew over the next three days. Hands-down the best food truck to grace Saskatoon with the most extensive and delicious plant-based menu.
Empire Salon & Barbering has a cute tent set up in front of their new 2nd floor shop. The ladies offer a wide range of the most heavenly Aveda products, hair accessories and men’s products. Visit them for all your beauty needs, and grab a cold beverage while you’re there!
F45, located in Stonebridge was offering complimentary drop-in classes today next to LuluLemon. Check the DTNYXE socials for all the classes offered over the weekend.
These two were chilling out next to the bouncy castle and seemed to embody what the weekend is all about - big smiles, soaking up sunshine and loving the free entertainment. Tonic has ah-mazing deals. If you’re looking for pretty party dresses for summer soirees, make your way to over asap. I’m sure these beauties won’t last long.
I hope that you’re able to take in the 2ND AVE Sidewalk Sale this weekend - the shopping, entertainment and community is incredible!
