Downtown Saskatoon 2ND AVE Sidewalk Sale
With less than a week away from one of the most anticipated Downtown Saskatoon summer festivities, I sat down to talk all things 2ND AVE Sidewalk Sale with my faves from the Downtown Saskatoon Business Improvement District. Sarah and Tannis are DTNYXE’s Marketing and Communication queens and they have been so busy planning the fine details of the 2ND AVE Sidewalk Sale while juggling all the other fun downtown events happening this season. The two kindly took me on a tour of some of their favorite participating stores and more. I really wanted to know what THEY were anticipating the most for this year’s sale. When traveling, I love to ask locals about their most coveted spots, so it only made sense to ask the ladies who eat, live & breathe DTNYXE daily as to what to look for at this year’s sale.
Visit 2nd Avenue July 4-6 to shop the very best sales in the sunshine while surrounded by a vibrant community, exciting entertainment and the most incredible food selections.
The best eats.
Downtown boasts some of the city’s most swoon-worthy restaurants and new-comer, YAY! THAI fits right in. With a clean, vivid design and incredible vegan Thai menu, YAY! THAI is a spot you can’t miss. We popped in for lunch and the three of us were totally blown away. And just how lucky were we to share so many items from their fresh and extensive menu. Lunch was something to write home about and included the incredible grilled chick’n satay, delicious spring rolls, BEST Panang curry & coconut rice waffles, plus cold rolls that were as colorful as they were flavorful. We sipped the prettiest refreshments including Kom”brew”cha, an iced Pink Hibiscus Latte and iced Blue Matcha. All were equally refreshing as they were delicious.
Music to My Ears
Downtown mainstay, The Vinyl Exchange celebrates it’s 25th year in business on 2nd Avenue. The best selection of vinyl the city has to offer, The Vinyl Exchange also boasts a large selection of band tees, posters and more. We visited the shop and loved perusing through all the vinyl gems they have to offer. I’ll be stopping in to grab a few of my most favourite albums and a tee or two. Visit the Vinyl Exchange at 128 2nd Avenue N.
Tannis wear’s the most stunning dress from Anthony’s. Her hat and sandals are from Swank Shoe Lounge.
Fingers crossed for sunny skies, but should you require taking a break from the wild and unpredictable Saskatchewan weather, I highly recommend visiting Shelter Brewing. This Nano brewery and taproom serves up the best small batch craft and prairie inspired beers. The atmosphere is relaxing and inviting and I always seem to spot a familiar face or two when visiting. This space offers a beer-to-go fridge, growlers, tasty flights and delicious Dylan + Cam’s Tacos. We had a blast sampling the latest on our visit and know you will too. And is there a better way to end an eventful day with friends by sipping beers and showing off your shopping haul? Visit Shelter at 255 2nd Avenue S - right next to Joyne!
Joyne Collective Marketplace is another new kid on the block. This retail space features the most beautiful and unique gifts, décor, jewelry and more. I could have spent so much more time casually strolling this space. The beautiful prints and cards caught my attention immediately, and the stunning accessories, baby-gifts and luxurious candles made this a true one-stop shop. Sarah loved the Little Pots succulent pots with cheeky sayings, stunning jewelry and an intricate hand-crafted clutch. Be sure to shop Joyne Marketplace for the best in hand-crafted local goodness. Sarah’s casual look is from Anthony’s and her accessories are from Etcetera’s.
