STYLING THE BUMP
WHOA MAMA. Two new babies are joining the OCM squad!
Kelsi & I are so excited to share that two new baby BOYS are on their way into the world! One arriving in June, and another in September. As current moms of very girlie - girls, Kelsi and I are looking forward to the new adventure, changes, and challenges of momming with little boys.
Read on to check out some of our personal pregnancy styles were currently rocking. We had so much fun dressing up and playing fashion blogger for a day with fellow OCM babe, momma to two, and photographer, Desiree Martin behind the camera!
ERIN: With FINALLYYYY the arrival of spring here in Saskatoon, I've never been more excited then to ditch the black maternity leggings, and dress up my bump and changing body with some much cuter spring looks. Not to mention keeping cool when my internal body temp is at an all time high. Aside from the countless maternity leggings I now own - I've been able to keep dressing in my wardrobe from nearly 100% of my pre-pregnancy clothing up until 8.5 months! - opting for pieces with a LOT of stretch and versatility - with comfort being key in my daily looks. Dressing in my (all stretchy or flowy) original clothing has saved my bank account AND keeps me feeling like ME, in a time when your body can start to feel like a foreign country. My personal style - pregnant or not - is basics of black & whites and neutral colours - now choosing layering pieces that flatter my watermelon sized bump. I've never been in to "covering or hiding" my bump, I'm all about embracing it and showing it off! So, my first go-to look is this body hugging staple - a black spandex dress, with my hubby's white Levi's t-shirt knotted in front, paired with my vintage Gap denim jacket and Adidas kicks.
KELSI: Rompers have always been one of the key pieces in my wardrobe. From jumpsuits, to overalls, to unitards, I love me a good one piece. This love runs deep and I'm happy to be able to continue it throughout my pregnancy. The ease of throwing on one item and then accessorizing as you please is about as much as I can handle these days, while I try to stay on top of everything. I was especially excited when this Sweetheart Romper from Canadian company Smash + Tess was recently released; the fabric is so soft and I sized up for room to grow. I received the romper while vacationing in California and pretty much lived in it throughout the trip. It can be dressed up with a heel and clutch, or worn more casually like I did here, with a relaxed light wash denim jacket from H&M, Steve Madden slides, Marc Jacobs crossbody bag, and After Hours matte black Quay shades.
ERIN: TWINNING! I think this shirt says it all. How adorbs are these "preggers" t-shirts from Cravings Maternity & Baby Boutique?! Not only are they light and airy, they are super soft, comfortable, and pretty adorable on little and big baby bumps! My jeans are also from Cravings. I love this relaxed boyfriend fit, with an uber comfortable stretch belly band. Again paired with sneakers, this look is perfect for a day of running, or, in my case, waddling, for work or errands around town.
KELSI: I love twinning, whether it be with my mini me Bella, my husband (ok, coordinating not twinning), or with my girls. I knew Erin & I needed to twin in these adorable tees from Cravings. Having a work dress code that prohibits jeans, my weekend wardrobe is mostly comprised of denim, t-shirts, and sneakers. I love the fit of H&M's MAMA skinny jeans (once I get about 6 inches hemmed off the leg), paired with my go-to slip on Vans. Comfy casual, weekend warrior.
ERIN: Another look I loved from Cravings, was this adorable and SO comfortable black and white stripped body hugging dress. It fit perfect in all the right places, the rouched sides were super flattering to show off the curves and hips, the perfect touch of preggo-sexy! You also cant go wrong with an off the shoulder style. I would definitely wear this dress out to a formal event or wedding with these comfy wedges from Spring, or dress it down with flats and a denim jacket for a lunch out.
KELSI: I know a lot of mama's to be struggle with finding dresses for upcoming summer showers and weddings, but Cravings has you covered! They have a variety of styles from everyday to dressy to fit those growing bumps. I already got to rock the stretchy black and white number Erin is pulling off here at the Choc la Cure fashion show a few weeks back and told her she needed this dress. I went for a casual denim dress with belt, giving off aviation vibes when paired with this silk scarf! Love it paired with these Sam Edelman Circus booties I recently scored at Swank.
ERIN: When picking up new pieces throughout my pregnancy, I always look for a good price point - because lets face it, babies are expensive! I also look for pieces that will mix well with the summer wardrobe already in my closet. For this season, I've opted for some spring & summer staples that will allow comfort, coverage, and grace for my post pregnancy bod. This black dress with red florals is something so easy to throw on for a cute and airy summer look while tending a newborn and a busy 7 year old. And at only $20 from Urban Planet, I can tell you I stocked up on this dress in a couple different patterns and colours!
KELSI: Of course I always like purchasing new additions to my wardrobe, but I also like to pick up pieces that aren't strictly 'maternity clothes' that can transition into my post-pregnancy closet. I recently picked up this black t-shirt dress (was a wee bit shorter than I anticipated) as a comfy summer basic to be worn alone or with leggings/ skinnies. And I had to have this super soft chambray dress by Wilfred from Aritzia. I likely won't be able to button it up my whole pregnancy but love it undone anyways, and it will be something easy to throw on after baby as well. Look summer ready with a straw hat & Gucci aviators from Point Optical.
Thanks for bumping by ;) We hope you enjoyed our maternity style tips as much as we enjoyed sharing them with you guys! And another big thank you to Desiree Martin Photography for all of these lovely photos <3
