"being IN the photos"

I wanted to chat with you all about more or less some self love. How being in the moment with our everyday is so Important. So this might be directed to the dad's out there to start snapping up photos of your wife/partner's with their littles more often. Us mom's seem to be the one's on the other side of the camera, and doing this for a living I'm usually always on this side. My dear husband has been taking note for many years and to be honest could probably take over one of my sessions no problem if he had to. Grateful he picks it up sometimes when I'm not looking, but I certainly prefer to be on MY side of the lens.

We as woman are SO hard on ourselves. It's just sad really. I'm guilty for it! I've had three kiddos and have good days and bad. Yesterday I went short shopping to find myself some summer gear. Well let's just say it was terrifying and was one of the "bad" days. I have three kiddos, all pretty close in age. I also have a 3 inch torso and when creating these beautiful babes it certainly did a number on me. I have this "love ponch" - I have other names for it but will keep it pg here. I don't like it, it bothers me to no end but I do my best to keep it to myself, especially around my kiddos. Both my husband and I try our best to have a positive and healthy view on body image for our kids sake.

We need NOT to be dodging the camera but rather be IN the photos with our kids, love ponches, wrinkles and all. Us momma's need to be present. Our children don't care that our jeans are a bit too tight. They just love us for us and that's the way it should be. So LOVE YOURSELF and get in on those pictures! Just be there! xo

Have a fancy pants camera and don't know how to use it? Well I can help you with that. I host a one day beginner DSLR - Snap Happy Class. Sound intimidating? nope, not at all. Most every one of my students are at the same level. They can find the power button and turn it on and that's about it. Some more knowledgeable then others, but there is always room for more growth.  By the end of the day they leave feeling much more confident and have manual mode mastered. This is not just a class for women, men are more then welcome. Please email me directly at joc@demophotography.com if you want more details on classes.
