Every morning I look in my closet. Sigh. I have nothing to wear. I try a few things on together and mutter does this even look good? Kid starts to get fussy. I’m running late. It’s good enough. Does that sound familiar? That’s me almost every morning. I’ve always thought it would be so great to hire a stylist but never made the time. Well, this past week I had K-Lyn with Je Suis Style come into my home and assess my wardrobe and I am SO glad I did.
K-Lyn recently moved to Saskatoon from Alberta and started her company Je Suis Style. She offers services like the “What to Wear” (which is the service I got from her) to personal shopping, help with packing for a trip, or revamping your closet. She came into my room and asked me what I needed help with. Basically, I thought I had a handful of good pieces, but didn’t know if they were out of style or what I should pair them with. I often go shopping and just buy what I like instead of buying pieces to make outfits. It turns out a few of the pieces I thought were pretty good and haven’t worn, are really fabulous and she totally helped me to create at least 10 NEW outfits. 10!! No need to go shopping for me, my spring wardrobe is ready!
For instance, I bought this floral long cover up from Tonic when I was pregnant last summer but didn’t wear it once because I was hotter than hell all summer. I haven’t worn it yet because it’s more of a summer piece and I kind of associate it with being pregnant, but K-Lyn showed me how to piece it with some skinny black pants and booties for the spring. She also said I could pair it with jean shorts and a black tank in the summer!
Some helpful hints that K-Lyn told me to keep in mind:
Add thin belts to almost everything: jeans, dresses, shirts.
She said the next time I’m out, I should try find another pair of nude flats and nude pumps to help complete some outfits.
Statement necklaces will help to make some of my plainer pieces pop
Leather leggings are great for me. I’m almost 6 feet tall and so a lot of dresses are too short for me. Leather leggings add edge to some nice dresses that I’ll wear as tops (see pictured below).
I really valued K-Lyn’s opinion. I just went through my closet piece by piece and got her opinion. It was so relieving! There were a few pieces where I thought maybe they were out of style, or didn’t work for me anymore, and she completely disagreed! Of course she told me what I should also donate which was equally helpful. It was so nice to get a super stylish person’s opinion because now I know they look good and I can wear them out confidently.
