Welcome to our blog. We're ten girls documenting our adventures in #yxe. Hope you have a nice stay!

Less is More

Less is More

I've been taking the Less Is More approach to everything in life, and fashion is no exception.  Rather than chasing trends, I choose to focus on quality over quantity, and select tailored items in neutral tones and rich textures.  I really enjoy this way of thinking and have quickly begun applying it to everything, including packing.  You see, I was once the girl who over-packed every possible piece for any conceivable situation.  My bags were full.  Now, I pare down to the tried and true and take along the absolute minimum.  Since I've been traveling a fair amount lately, I feel like I've finally mastered the art of the carry-on.  It's taken practice and restraint, but now I fly with only a small carry-on and LOVE it. Today I'm sharing a few of my favourite travel essentials in hopes that your next trip will be lighter in luggage.

To ensure a streamlined pack, I reach for my most beloved wardrobe staples. Selecting one trusted essential rather than multiple styles minimizes packing and makes getting ready a breeze. My velvet Baker Boy hat has been a go-to this season. It elevates the most basic outfits and easily conceals bad hair days.  A coveted handbag like the Gucci Dionysus transitions from day to night with ease and works just as well with a tee and sneakers, as it does with a dress and heels. Dark sunnies, earbuds, and silk scarf top off my travel necessities list.

As a self-professed beauty junkie, it's taken everything for me to streamline my cosmetic bag. The less is more rule applies to both my home and travel beauty products, so I've made every effort to use (and buy) only what I actually need. It feels pretty great to reduce clutter and spending. Keeping to carry-on rules, I select as little liquids as possible. That means sheet masks, powder and minis are all that I need. A beauty blender, barrel iron and nude lippy continue to be daily essentials whether near or far.

To stay comfortable in flight, I forego the sweats and choose to layer casual pieces in rich textures. My favourite items are clean, understated, and comfortable. Sticking with neutral pieces in shades of grey, blush and black means they work well together, or on their own for a monochromatic look.  A cozy sweater, oversized scarf and comfy kicks accompany me on both short and long commutes. Upon arrival, these laid-back styles take me to city travel without looking too relaxed or undone.
