Crop tops: They're everywhere from runway to streetwear to red carpet events. In fact, the trend for tiny tees is so big lately that even brides can be spotted in a two-piece, tummy-revealing alternative to a gown. But if you're not sure about these statement tops, you may not want to go all-in, so what better way to experiment with the trend than to let your existing pieces pull double duty? Today, I'll show you my fave four ways to crop a top (without a pair of scissors).

A flowy tank is one of this summer's staples but sometimes, you just crave a waistline.
Knotting the tank right in the middle ups the tropical vibes in a flash, and suddenly my high-waisted shorts have useable pockets. Double win!
A boyfriend shirt is a go-to no matter the season, but with your new on-trend button-down skirt, cinching it with a belt would lose the button detail and who knows what kind of lines a tuck-in would create.
Solution? The classic country girl front tie. To get it to sit perfectly, experiment with how many buttons you need to undo as well as whether to tie your tails right over left twice or to go for a classic square knot (holla to the Girl Guides!). Oh and for an extra pop, get that collar up!
Flowy maxi skirts already offer a lot of coverage so adding a boxy top isn't the most flattering option.
A little knot in the back, though, and suddenly you're feeling fancy free. I love the way this adds interest in an unexpected place but keeps the front of your top simple and ready for statement jewelry.
Although a tuck might do the trick with a striped bodycon skirt, why not be a little daring and play with those lines a bit?
Pull all the loose material to one side and tie at the ribs for an asymmetrical style that bolsters your boldness.
Of course, all of these faux crop tops pair easily with high-waisted jeans, too, but you can see how many other silhouettes benefit from the tie-up, too. So, ready to see what new life you can bring to *your* pieces? Better digging in that closet!
