Meet Our New Bloggers!

Meet Our New Bloggers!

saskatoon lifestyle blog our collective muse writers

Since the blog began, it's been delightful to watch our readership at Our Collective Muse grow. We enjoy taking on requested topics, partnering with local businesses, exploring our various interests as we craft our posts, and getting to know people who are doing great things in our community. Beyond those benefits, the friendships formed in OCM have been something special. Today, we wish four of our dear friends much success as they continue with their many other projects-- it's not a cinch to fit everything into a busy life and we're glad to have had their contributions in OCM for as long as we did. So to Makeup Artist extraordinaire Lisa Hallam, documentary-style photographer Tammy Boehmer, Tonic guru Roxanne Woodley, and style maven Kim Davies who is now a BC girl, we wish you all good things and are going to hold you to your "guest blogger" promises! We truly love you all and miss you at meetings already.

But this isn't just a post of reflection. Born from these fond farewells springs exciting news, and that is we are welcoming four new members to OCM! These ladies are the perfect foils to our existing areas of expertise and we're sure you'll enjoy their posts ahead. From interior design and event planning to hairstyling and makeup, the skills of these girls are sure to round out the blog in a wonderful way. Please join me in welcoming the new additions to the Our Collective Muse team: Tamara Bowman, Molly Lux, Kassy Moen, and Holly Decker.

Tamara's business, Metric Design Centre is focused around interior design. "I love how a well-designed space can absolutely influence how you feel and belong in a space," she says. "I'm passionate about innovative products, beautiful designs, and seeing spaces be rediscovered through renovation." Tamara also values relationships, whether it's with building suppliers, clients, or team relationships so having her own business is the right fit for her. Outside of work, Tamara loves to keep busy with family and the many things she enjoys in life. "I LOVE wine, fabulous cocktails, and food," she begins, "As well as traveling, fashion, dancing, movies, playing soccer, spending time with friends, and just staying active and growing personally and professionally."

As for what Tamara looks forward to in Our Collective Muse, she says she enjoys the idea of celebrating personal and professional interests with like-minded women. "I think of it as a great opportunity to grow while in the company of other motivated and passionate business women. It's a pretty cool offering for Saskatoon so I was excited when I was asked to be a part of it!" (And of course, we were happy she said yes.)

MOLLY LUX - photo by Lisa Landrie

Molly Lux is the owner of Lux Events, an event planning company in Saskatoon and loves what she does for so many reasons. "I love the business side of running Lux Events and I just love the event industry," she explains. "It is extremely fast-paced and my team and I are constantly evolving with each client and event to ensure our look and service is the best in Saskatoon."
The other important part of Molly's life is family. She and her husband Brent (whom she describes as "wonderful") have a three-and-a-half-year-old daughter Nora and another baby on the way. "My family is very supportive of my career and I couldn't do what I do without them!"

Molly has enjoyed reading the blog because each woman brings a different perspective to a given topic and she was thrilled to have been invited to join. "All the women are fierce and I can't wait to hang out and collaborate with all of them," says Molly. "I see OCM as more than just a blog. I see it as a network of amazingly strong women that I can learn from and I can't wait to get started!" (We can't wait either, Molly.)

Kassy is the Director of Hair Colour at Capelli Salon Studio which means she's in charge of educating new talent in hair colour formulation and technique at the salon, all the while maintaining her own busy schedule of guests. But her life in the art of hair extends further than the salon. "I was a colour educator for years teaching coast to coast in Canada and had opportunities to work backstage at hair shows in Canada, the U.S. And Europe," says Kassy. And if she looks familiar, it may be because Kassy is also a monthly guest on the Global Morning Show for their "Saskatoon Style" segment.

Kassy comes from a big family and half of it is Ukrainian, so she loves celebrating her culture with friends and family. As for what else she's really into, the answer is 'style'. "I am OBSESSED with my capsule wardrobe and love to spread the word on what a life changer it's been for me!" I blogged about Kassy's capsule wardrobe recently so check it out if you haven't already!  We're excited to tap into Kassy's insight within the beauty industry, especially because she's so involved in the Saskatoon scene. And as for what Kassy herself is most excited about? "To collaborate with all of the diversely talented women in the blog!" Woah yeah!

Holly Decker Makeup Artistry Saskatoon

Makeup Artist Holly Decker feels fortunate to be able to do what she loves for a living.
From working on famous faces like Magic Johnson and Shannon Tweed and creating runway looks to making brides look their best and educating women through personalized lessons, Holly enjoys it all. "I get to create art, meet so many amazing people, and work with some of the most talented people in the industry." Asked what else makes her heart happy, Holly's quick to respond: "My three boys, Jake, Ben, and Rowan!"

Holly says she appreciates seeing the support that we ladies of OCM continue to give each other and when we asked her to join, she didn't hesitate. "I just have so much respect for all the amazingly talented women in OCM and really wanted to be a part of it." And of course, we're glad she is.

Keep your eyes peeled for some great upcoming posts from these ladies, and for more goodies from the rest of us of course. We all LOVE hearing your comments and getting requests for topics, so keep the musings coming!
