Many people will be able to relate to these homeowners' renovation story! These clients have a young, growing family who not only needed a more functional layout and wanted to expand their kitchen, but they were looking for some relief from their formally oak clad home. Closed in walls and heavy oak cabinetry made the space feel dark and dated, and the kitchen was formally tucked in beyond the bay window at the back of the space, so it was actually dim and congested with little counter space.
When it comes to oak there are purists out there who wouldn't dare change their oak overload, but for this family it just didn't suit their style OR needs! So what's the next step....our team at Metric helped these clients revive their space with a complete main level renovation and re-design.
The goal of the renovation was to open up the main level and make it more family friendly as well as create a beautiful and functional kitchen. The clients worked closely with our designers to shape a living space that truly matched their style. A personalized palette of white cabinetry, subtle patterns, and a touch of teal blue make for a contemporary/transitional and timeless space that perfectly suits this family! Special touches like the soft blue inverted bevel kitchen backsplash, and marble mosaic front entrance add a unique element to the space that really sets it apart from the other surrounding homes, while not pushing the style too over the top.
The finished product is a light and airy, well organized space. This is a great example of a family taking action to make their space personalized and perfectly suited to their needs!
