Wondering how we pulled together that amazing Galentine's Day party a few weeks ago? For help we turned to our friend, neighbour (at The Two Twenty), and event-planner extraordinaire, Molly Lux. Molly is the owner, event designer and planner at Lux Events, through which she helps clients make their event dreams come true.

Good event planning always starts with good design and Lux is a full service event planning company so they want to be involved right from the beginning in shaping the vision. So when we decided we wanted to have some kind of Valentine's Day party, we brought the idea to Molly, Desarée, and Megan, they did research, went to the venue, talked with us about what we wanted, developed colour themes and concepts and pulled it all together for us. With their awesome contacts such as Blossoms, Anthology, Fab Frosting, Balloonatic, and Black Fox Spirits, and more, they reached out and created our little party right on time, with attention to details we hadn't even considered. We LOVED it!! Thanks again, ladies.

We asked Molly if she has any easy, do-it-yourself hostess tips for planning our own parties. From the expert:
"If the hostess is having fun, then the party will be fun. If the hostess is stressed out, fussing over people, working, cooking, and cleaning, people will feel uncomfortable. Plan for good food and drinks and simple decor - put out nice candles, have a nice table, but don't over-stress. If guests don't know each other, create a fun game so they can mix, such as putting out namecards with an interesting question to ask others written on the back of it. Set everything up for self serve. Make sure to welcome each guest, take their coat, and offer them a drink (create a signature cocktail and premix so they're ready to hand out). Then show them where they can help themselves to drinks and food for the rest of the night! Get as much done ahead of time and tidy up as much as you can. And although I run an event planning business and help people create everything from the a simple personalized event, to the most exquisitely magical big-budget party, my personal entertaining philosophy is that I'd much rather have people over every Saturday evening and have a clean (not spotless) house...with good food (not necessarily the most amazing food ever) rather than saving up and having an extravagant party only once a year."
