When Dr. Stewart and staff at Mid West Laser Centre invited the OCM ladies by for an evening of wine and cheese, we received information on their clinic, services and lasers then, we received a treatment.  I was lucky enough to try their newest addition, The 4D laser.  Read on to see how it went and most importantly, how it felt.

What is 4D and what can it do?

The 4D Laser is a non-invasive laser treatment that addresses skin laxity, wrinkles, loss of volume, and uneven texture on the face by treating the entire face and interior oral cavity. This procedure stimulates collagen and is safe and effective in all skin types

1- SmoothLiftin™

The first step involves a pain free treatment which targets volume through a process called collagen induction. The effects are an overall improvement of tightness and elasticity of the skin along with a plumping effect, much like a filler.

2- FRAC3®

The second step involves the targeted treatment of specific, deeper imperfections in the skin like spots and vascular components using a fractional laser. This is fast, effective and will help restore youthful texture.

The third stage of Fotona 4D involves heating the skin safely and rapidly from the outside in by concentrating energy delivery subcutaneously. This is done using a brushing technique and provides an outstanding tightening effect for areas experiencing skin laxity

4- SupErficial™

The final stage is like a polishing effect for your skin. The treatment removes dead skin cells to reveal the brighter, healthier tissue below and provides that noticeable “glow” to your skin.

How long did it take?

Topical freezing cream was applied to my face.  I rested 45 minutes in the treatment room before, April came in to begin treatment.   The laser consisted of four steps all of which took about an hour.

What did it feel like?

I felt some warmth and a few tender patches that were quite hot.  All in all it was relatively pain-free.

What was the recovery?

I experienced mild swelling and redness for the first 24 hours but nothing after that.

Did you notice any immediate results?

Both April and I noticed that my neck was very smooth and any fine lines there were gone.  However, I didn’t notice a change to my face.  I assume that this is because I only received one of the four recommended treatments.

How many treatments are needed?

For optimal results, treatments should be performed every 3 weeks with a total of 4 sessions. These treatments can be performed at anytime regardless of the season.

What can I expect from the treatments?

Each person is different but you can expect minimal discomfort during the treatment. Immediately following treatment, you may experience some redness or swelling that will diminish after a few hours. Most can resume their daily activities immediately following the treatment.

After completing the 4 sessions of the 4D, new collagen creation will result in tightness and increased elasticity of your skin. Your face will not only look rejuvenated, but also younger, tighter and more vibrant.

What did you like most about this treatment?

Definitely no downtime – you won’t look beet red for weeks and can continue daily activities right after treatment.  Unlike other lasers, the 4D laser treatment can be done in all seasons and you do not have to stay out of the sun for a prolonged time.

My favourite part?  The staff.  April really took the time to explain the process as she was performing the treatment and she was professional and gentle in her demeanour. Thank you April and staff at Mid West for inviting us to learn and experience your newest services!
