We pulled into Golden, Bc a little discouraged I must say. Jack had motion sickness, we needed groceries and had been travelling a fair bit with 3 young chicos. I had no idea what this 'teepee' camp I'd booked was gonna be like. Expectations were set low, and the kids were wanting a hotel with watersides. The odds were not in my favor.
But, halleluia! Goldenwood Lodge was flippin' fantastic. Our expectations were much exceeded. It is peaceful and calming with breathtaking views of the mountains. The bathrooms were so so clean, and any parent will know how important this is. There was a community kitchen that everyone keeps very clean, and a common area with windows all around.
The cabins are hand built on site. They are so rustic and charming, I wanted to move right in. The owners are kind and mindful, protective of the beautiful environment they live in and very welcoming.
Just look at this view. I was running around like a madwoman snapping pics as the sun went down.
Every teepee has it's own name. We stayed in the Black Hills. Two double beds and a single, all outfitted with mosquito nets. My oh my, was I excited to let down that net. Kinda made me feel like a princess.
Sleeping bags are available for rent. I would recommend packing extra blankets as you are in the mountains and the air at night is chilly.
Wood stove was warming us upon our arrival. I adore that smell.
I can't say enough about this place. Rustic, charming, with personality and loads of attention to detail. Thanks Goldenwood!
