Winter is here and a little red wine and a few good friends makes the long winter not only tolerable, but quite enjoyable. I have three "go to" wines for this time of year. Number one (because of taste and price) is La Vieille Ferme from France, It goes so well with aged cheese and pears, or anything rustic you prepare for friends. Next is Medeiros, a Portugal wine, organic, but not officially as I was told at a wine tasting, by a wine expert at one of our pop up events for Farminista. Third choice is Apothic Red from California, light and good with any winter snacks, even truffled popcorn ( thanks to Congress Beer House for that little tip).
When entertaining for the holidays make sure to have plenty of cheese, fruit and nuts to go with the wine. Don't be afraid to mix up your best dishes and gold cutlery with rustic wooden platters and plaid blankets, winter is a time to enjoy company and make your guests feel special and comfortable.
Keep extra branches and greenery from your local florist to dress up your winter table.
This poncho style wrap from Tonic is so perfect for a winter night with friends.
Thanks to Tammy from Boehmer Photography for the wine tasting and pictures.
