CREATE.SHARE.INSPIRE. // ups & downs in the creative world

Hey ya'll. It's Erin. Today I wanted to get real. I wanted to share a little bit of my honest feels lately - which I know we all go through in some capacity in our lives. From struggles to motivation to feeling totally rockin' awesome - life and creativity as an entrepreneur is a constant roller coaster ride. It's fun and exhilarating, but also terrifying and out of control at times.

Be BOLD & Bright! Makeup Artist feature: Caitlyn Dixon & Ginette Hall

As spring is beginning to roll in, boutiques and social media are flooded with spring/summer '16 styles - as a photographer I am instantly inspired and ready to begin shooting some spring creatives, and say ciao to winter! (hopefully for good!).

A few month back I spent a creative Sunday-Funday with Regina based makeup artists, Caitlyn Dixon & Ginette Hall in my studio here in Saskatoon. These two extremely talented artists came prepared with their creative minds racing, bold colour inspiration, and immaculate eyes for beauty.

Sunday Fun Day

It's Sunday fun day!  Time to get together with two of my favourite beauty creative minds and have some fun with makeup, hair, and photography!   Karyn Kimberely is one of my absolute favourites to shoot beauty with and Kassy Moen of Capelli Salon Studio is a hair genius. We just click.  You know the kind where they can just do them and I do me?  Yep they are the best.

Christmas is only 10 days away, and maybe you're still looking for the perfect gift for someone special. I am all about shopping local as much as possible, and here is one Saskatoon line I am just infatuated with.

Artist & Designer Alissa Ramage brings Saskatoon her beautiful and unique jewellery line - Oneiro Designs.

Me: Lisa Landrie

Occupation: Freelance photographer

Favorite Type of Photography: Food, kids, people, landscapes… (not necessarily in that order)

Favorite Lens: 70-200 F2.8

I'm a firm believer that photographers need professional photos taken of themselves once and awhile. I take pictures of people almost every day and I'm always behind the camera. I see things. I can see things that make great memories.

In no way, shape or form am I uncomfortable in front of the camera… but its been awhile since I got real, stood alone and put myself in my subjects shoes.

I believe that having your photos taken can give you a little clarity and happiness all in one.

How to shoot dreamy backlit portraits

As a photographer, everyday, everywhere I go I am constantly day dreaming about how it would look through the lens on my camera. I am constantly chasing the light. My favourite light comes in the evening. That golden, dreamy, hazy glow as they day is coming to an end. Beautiful light can make even the most basic photo magical. I love using the evening light to create vibrant back lit portraits, and today I'm sharing some of my basic tips and tricks on creating images like these!
